Geographic Location
Zaporizhzhya region is situated in the South-East of Ukraine. The favorable strategic position of the area is determined by its equally easy access both to the European and Asian markets. Its territory is 27.2 thousand sq. km which comprises 4.5 % of Ukraine. The distance from north to south reaches 208 km and from east to west - 235 km. The south part of the region has access to Azov sea. Located on Dnipro River, the third largest river in Europe, Zaporizhzhya has well-developed river transportation.

Most of the area is characterized by flat steppe landscape. The region has large commercially substantial deposits of iron and manganese ores. There are 25 other useful minerals found nearby Zaporizhzhya which are currently explored by 64 operational mines.

A share of the region in total reserves of mineral raw materials of Ukraine:
· Pegmatite- 88,06 %
· Apatite - 63,42 %
· Manganese ore - 69, 1 %
· Secondary Kaolin - 22,9 %
· Iron ore - 10 %
· Fireproof clay - 86 %

The climate is moderate - continental. Average annual temperature is in summer + 22 °С, in winter - 4,5 °С. The climate is dry. The amount of precipitation in the south-east - 667 mm, in the south-western part – 448 mm. The average number of sunny days is 225. Such climate conditions are good for the agriculture, recreation and tourism.
